About European Maritime Day

European Maritime Day (EMD) is an annual two-day event promoted by DG MARE since 2008, bringing together more than a thousand stakeholders from the different ranks of the sea economy.

This year EMD will take place at the Lisbon Congress Center on May 16 and 17, and will be co-organized by the European Commission (DG MARE), the Ministry of the Sea (Directorate General for Maritime Policy) and the Lisbon City Council; and the collaboration of Fórum Oceano - entity responsible for organizing the exhibit component of the event.

The 2019 edition is dedicated to blue entrepreneurship, innovation and investment, with a special focus on research and innovation issues for a healthy ocean. With a program that includes workshops, breakout sessions, business meetings, pitches and an exhibit component (EMD EXPO), EMD presents itself as a meeting point for European players in the economy of the sea, enhancing knowledge sharing, the emergence of new opportunities and partnerships, and serving as the stage for the presentation of projects, products and ideas.
