The ERNACT network facilitates a session to discuss about a number of digital transformation innovation and research interests and linkages in future projects.
25 October 2022 - ERNACT  project
Aiming to increase digital transformation and research linkages between Newfoundland and Labrador and European Universities in the ERNACT regions and cities, our network has organised the first Inter - University Collaboration Roundtable outside Europe on the 18th of October in St John's, Newfoundland and Labrador (Canada). The session took place in parallel to the ERNACT International Management Committee meeting, kindly hosted by the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Mitacs, Harris Centre and Memorial University from Newfoundland and Labrador, Tampere University and Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences in Finland and Ljubljana University in Slovenia discussed about a number of digital transformation innovation and research interests and linkages in order to explore future cooperation opportunities within the ERNACT led digital transformation projects during the 2021 - 2017 programming period. Departments of Computer Science, Engineering and Research & Innovation offices exchanged their ideas and views to get to cooperate together.

The roundtable commenced with a short presentation to explain how universities work in Canada and in the different European countries including staff, projects, cooperation and financing. Afterwards, the roundtable continued with a fruitful discussion of particularly common research topics and some conclusions to continue exploring how to cooperate together. "We have explored common digital innovation and research fields for future digital transformation ERNACT projects", explains Andrej Kos, Professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Head of the Laboratory for Telecommunications at Ljubljana University, who conducted the roundtable.

ERNACT Programme Manager Jose Manuel San Emeterio, who also participated in the session, highlighted that the first steps are being completed now. "We aimed at promoting the interaction and participation of the Universities based in the ERNACT cities and regions in the future digitalisation projects. We are now
discussing potential research and innovation areas to reinforce Canadian and European collaboration".

We would like to thank all the attendees for their active and bright participation in the roundtable.
Stay tuned for more updates!
