14 November 2023 - ERNACT  project
Northern Periphery and Arctic Programme (NPA) has organised the 'Northern Skills: Navigating the future NPA' conference and the annual Lead partner seminar on the 8th and 9th of November, in Skellefteå (Sweden).

What solutions have been already put in place in the seven programme partner countries Finland, Ireland, Sweden, Faroe Islands, Iceland, Greenland and Norway? The NPA conference brought together a very comprenhensive programme to navigate the future. Experienced speakers shared their knowledge and good practices on how to find common solutions to shared challenges to together become more prosperous and resilient, always turning ideas into sustainable solutions.

Highlighting the European year of skills, the audience got the opportunity to listen to Mr Petri Koistinen, Policy Coordinator at European Commission DG REGIO, about Northern skills, green and digital twin transition and sustainability: main objectives, study recommendations and interreg contribution to skills. In addition, youth empowerment in remote areas in the North was explored. Rasmus Emborg and Ina Mickos explained how to meaningfully involve youth through democracy, by meeting them, identifying barriers and outlining the importance of knowing youth institutions.

Two
neighboring interreg programmes, NPA and Interreg Aurora, also took the floor to present the cooperation opportunities in the Arctic under the Arctic Cooperation programme and the clustering projects. Afterwards, the programme continued focusing on the hosting region. Is Northern Sweden a promised land? Johan Lundberg from Umeå University presented the challenges and opportunities that the green industrialisation brings. Furthermore, ERNACT Programme Manager Jose Manuel San Emeterio presented the INNOCAP project. He explained that, led by ERNACT, the partnership is cooperating to provide enhanced quality and sustainable public services through the use of emerging technologies.

Sharing expertise among lead partners
During the second day, ERNACT Programme Manager Jose Manuel San Emeterio, Senior Administrator Marion Boyce and Digital Communications Officer Ianire Renobales presented the ERNACT led INNOCAP and COPOWER projects to the rest of the NPA funded projects' lead partners. The three of them explained project objectives, goals and cooperation partnerships.

Following this, the attendees were divided into three groups to review, on the one hand, eligibility rules of expenditure and audit trail, project implementation, reporting and publicity requirements. On the other hand, the communication managers network shared their expertise on how to successfully coordinate communication in transnational projects and how to build on project results, increase uptake and promotion. During this session, Ianire Renobales shared some conclusions, good practices and challenges about developing a project Communication Plan, internal and external strategies and engagement, among others.

Together with some final remarks and conclussions, lead partners got the opportunity to meet desk officers and ask any questions related to the ongoing projects. Learn more about all the approved projects.
