Last week a group of Saxion University students presented their research on why young people often hesitate to repair their electronics. They explored the citizen journeys and raised awareness about sustainable repair practices with E6 project lead partners Frank Stiksma and Rianne Driessen.

The event highlighted innovative student research exploring why young people often hesitate to repair their electronics. Key barriers identified included fears of damaging devices, limited repair knowledge, and a lack of awareness about accessible repair services. To address these challenges, the students developed creative solutions such as "Maintenance as a Service," the "RepairSmart" app, and the "FiXfinder" tool—each aimed at making repairs more approachable and convenient.

The presentation underscored the alignment between these student-driven ideas and the broader E6 project initiatives, including the work being done in Apeldoorn, Thomas More, and Maakbaar Leuven. These efforts are all part of a shared goal: empowering citizens to embrace repair as a first choice, reducing waste, and promoting sustainability.

Through this engaging session, students not only gained practical insights into citizen behaviour but also recognised the significant societal impact of accessible repair services. The event exemplifies the E6 project's commitment to fostering innovative, community-focused solutions for a more sustainable future.
