The ERNACT network launched its 2025 agenda with the first Interregional Management Committee (IMC) meeting of the year, hosted by the Association of Local Authorities in Västernorrland (ALAV) in Härnösand, Sweden, on 13–14 May.

The two-day event brought together representatives from ERNACT cities and regions to advance collaboration on digital transformation. The primary objective was to align strategic priorities and explore new opportunities for cross-border innovation and cooperation.

Held at ALAV’s offices, the programme featured strategic planning sessions, networking opportunities, and discussions on new directions for EU-funded initiatives.

The meeting opened with a welcome from ALAV, followed by presentations from Mid Sweden University, highlighting regional research and innovation opportunities. A standout moment of the morning was an inspiring presentation by Patrick Bylund, World Heritage Coordinator at Västernorrland County Council, on the High Coast World Heritage area.

The formal IMC session began in the afternoon, chaired by Prof. Dr. Andrej Kos. Dr. Caitriona Strain presented the network’s financial report, while Mr. Jose Manuel San Emeterio led a comprehensive discussion on ERNACT’s project pipeline and upcoming EU funding calls.

The day concluded with a visit to the Höga Kusten viewpoint, where attendees experienced local Swedish culture—including a tasting of the traditional Surströmming—set against the backdrop of spectacular coastal views.

On Day 2, participants visited Härnösand Energi & Miljö AB (HEMAB), a municipal facility at the forefront of biogas production and sustainable energy production through food waste recycling.

Back at ALAV’s offices, Mrs. Leona McGee introduced ERNACT’s 2025 communication strategy, followed by additional discussions on funding opportunities and upcoming project proposals. The meeting closed with confirmation of the next IMC session, to be held in Donegal and Derry City, and closing remarks from Prof. Dr. Kos.

The Härnösand IMC meeting reaffirmed ERNACT’s commitment to digital transformation, sustainability, and cross-border cooperation. With renewed momentum and a clear strategic direction, the network now moves forward into 2025 focused on innovation, connectivity, and impact across its member regions.
